About Madison
My name is Madison, and I have loved baking for as long as I can remember. That is why I created this blog of all the recipes I inherited from my Grandma.
That love came from creating something new, combined with my love of food, and also seeing my Grandma bake. From when I was little and would spend time at her house, she showed me her cooking magazines and even got me my own subscription for one year. I would see her read the magazines, then clip out the recipes she wanted to try and prepare them on a notecard to keep them organized. She moved into a care home this year and was cleaning out her house, and gave me all of the recipe cards that she had either cut and made or written herself over her lifetime. I have shoeboxes full of recipes, many were made before I was even born.
Find me elsewhere:

My dad’s mom, Lee, was the chef at a huge school in Portland. Baking for thousands every day. She also became a private chef for a family later on in life, all while cooking meals and baking desserts for her 5 boys. Even now, she says, “I always felt I wasn’t a very good cook, I just have good recipes.”
These recipes I inherited are from those days, from the farm baking for hungry boys, and also recipes that she used from her many jobs

How Inherited Recipes Began.
After I was given recipes from my dad’s mom, it made me wonder about my mom’s mom. My Grandma Naida died when I was 7, but when she is talked about, her cooking and baking is always brought up because of how incredible it was.
I remember her cooking all the meals on our family camping trips and baking my brother’s birthday cake with her. I always hear all the time about how great her sourdough pancakes were.
I wanted to find her old recipes if they were still around 16 years later, and behold, my grandpa did have a stash he graciously gave me.
I have said it before in another post, but even though my Grandma Naida is no longer with us, I have felt more connected to her than ever by baking her recipes. I know that is something we would have shared if she were still here.
