My husband and I recently bought our first home! We are over the moon thrilled, especially with a baby on the way. A nice new category I am adding to my blog is “homemaker.” while I have always felt like I had this title – even in our 400 square-foot apartment we lived in for our whole marriage up to this point- having a home it is my goal to really embrace being a “homemaker” Now from the outside looking in, this is no “Pinterest” house. It was built in 1935, and it is 950 square feet, but I am not joking when I say it is the house of my dreams. It has a very large living room, designated utility/laundry room, a bedroom big enough where we both have room to walk on the side of our bed, a room we get to turn into a nursery, a huge backyard, and a very sturdy kitchen with a full-size oven! A literal dream! These are truly the days and moments I used to pray for.
My husband and I are enjoying the time we have to do some minor updates, paint and new floor, and also excited for some bigger projects we have planned for the future!
This little house I get to turn into a home and embrace my role as a homemaker. I am excited to share our budget-friendly home updates, the nursery transformation, and everything I can cook up in that kitchen!
What a dream it is to be a homeowner, and while I am looking forward to all that our house will become, I am reminding myself of this quote: “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” I have dreamed all my life of having my own house to cook in, care for, and turn into a haven for my family and all who enter and I couldn’t be more thankful for our cozy spot.

My new kitchen work bench from Costco & our dining table we found on Marketplace!
The kitchen workbench is a dream, I doubled my counter space, and it is just ever-so-slightly taller than standard “counter height” so it is perfect for baking – not being bent over!
