Now this recipe is not my grandma’s, it is in fact my own recipe that I have adapted from the good ole Nestle recipe. I have made some changes of my own, and have been told that “this is the best chocolate chip cookie” on more than one occasion. They are chewy, soft, and perfectly chocolatey!

I also highly recommend using a cookie scoop instead of a spoon, the scoop will ensure perfectly uniform cookies every time, and also save loads of time when you’re scooping!

How to make the BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
The ultamate chocolate chip cookie recipe. They are chewy, soft, and perfectly chocolatey!

Ingredients

  • 4 ½ cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups shortening (this is the key to chewy, fluffy cookies, do not use butter)
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 Tbs vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 package semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 package mini semi sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375
  • Cream the shortening until fluffy, about 1-2 minutes. Add the sugar and brown sugar and mix well. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each obe. add in the vanilla.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and mix, then gradually add the flour mixture into the shortening mixture
  • Add in choclate chips and mini chocolate chips.
  • Scoop onto baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes
  • Let cookies cool and set up for 3-5 minutes after taking them out of the oven, then cool on wire rack.

Notes

These cookies will be fluffy and soft every time, but only if you use shortening! The shortening is what helps the cookies keep their shape, and not fall flat!
8 minutes of bake time does not seem like a lot, but it is enough. The cookies might look underbaked but they aren’t! Let them set up on the baking sheet after taking them out of the oven and they will be perfectly cooked, chewy, and delicious!
