Making bread is one of my favorite things to do. I usually just stick with a classic Sourdough recipe, but I have been wanting to venture out and try new flavors, that’s why when I came across this Buttermilk Honey Bread Recipe from my Grandma’s collection, I had to try it!! It was honestly such an easy recipe to follow along, and I love using recipes that are in my Grandma’s handwriting! This bread is so delicious and simple to make, anyone can do it! I hope you love the flavors as much as I do!

How to make Buttermilk Honey Bread

1.First, sprinkle the yeast over the water, making sure the water is warm but hot enough to kill the yeast. The ideal water temperature is 105-115 degrees F. Let it sit until activated. activated yeast will rise to the top of the water and look bubbly/foamy.

2. Warm the buttermilk, honey, and butter in the microwave or in a saucepan, until the butter melts.

3. In a separate bowl, prepare the dry ingredients, the flour, baking soda, and salt.

4. In a stand mixer, add half of the flour mixture, and all of the buttermilk mixer, and yeast mixture. Mix with the paddle attachment until well blended.

5. Add the rest of the flour, a little at a time, until the dough holds together. Then change to the bread hook attachment and knead the dough for at least 5 minutes, but no longer than 10 minutes. Add enough flour so the dough doesn’t stick to the bowl.

6. Let the dough rise until doubled (30-45 minutes) then shape into loaves and let them rise again until doubled.

7. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes, or until the bottom of the loaves sound hollow when you tap it.
